Dr. Jennifer L. Carner
Rev. Dr. Jennifer L. Carner is a preacher, teacher, author, consultant, and ministry leader with a passion for empowering individuals and transforming communities through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the founder of J.C. Inc., established in 2008, she is committed to enriching the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities through impactful preaching, teaching, consulting, and ministry initiatives that foster healing and holistic growth. Guided by the vision of bringing healing to all nations one person at a time J.C. Inc. serves as a platform for spiritual development, leadership cultivation, and community transformation.
In 2017, Dr. Carner established the Mahogany Foundation, a mentorship initiative designed to create a safe and nurturing space for young female preachers between the ages of 18 and 25. Through mentoring, leadership development, and authentic dialogue, the foundation equips emerging women in ministry to thrive in their calling. She also continues to develop Pink Pulpiteer, which serves as the flagship platform for J.C. Inc.’s mentorship programs and philanthropic endeavors.
The daughter of Pastor J.W. Carner and Brenda Carner, Dr. Carner began serving in ministry alongside her father and was licensed to preach in August 2000. She was ordained in 2008 and has dedicated her life to advancing the Kingdom through authentic, transformative ministry.
Dr. Carner made history as the first female Executive/Lead Pastor of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, where Dr. E. Dewey Smith Jr. serves as Senior Pastor. She currently continues to provide preaching and teaching support to the ministry.
A lifelong learner and scholar, Dr. Carner earned a Ph.D. in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric from Christian Theological Seminary. Her doctoral research focused on the rich history and tradition of African American preaching. Her academic interests include Homiletics, Communications Theory, and leadership development within faith communities.
Dr. Carner currently serves as Director of the Preaching in a Post-Christian Age Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she equips pastors, preachers, and emerging faith leaders with resources and strategies for effectively proclaiming the Gospel amid today’s evolving cultural, social, and political landscape.
An accomplished author, Dr. Carner published her first book, 31 Days of Winning, a devotional journal born from personal experiences of faith, perseverance, and healing. Through its pages, she offers encouragement to preachers, influencers, creatives, and everyday believers navigating life's challenges while remaining committed to their purpose.
In recognition of her commitment to preaching, teaching, and ministry through a Christ-centered and liberationist lens, Dr. Carner was inducted into the esteemed Morehouse School of Religion Board of Preachers. Whether preaching from the pulpit, mentoring emerging leaders, or speaking to audiences around the country, Dr. Carner remains dedicated to encouraging others and advancing God's transformative work in the world.
She continues to embody the words of the first song she learned to sing: “I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody about Somebody who can save anybody.”
Reverend Matthew L. Watley
Rev. Matthew Lawrence Watley is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Kingdom Fellowship AME Church, headquartered in Calverton, MD. Kingdom has an active membership of over 5000 people. In addition to the thousands that attend worship in-person, thousands stream through the Church’s online platform nationally and internationally.
Under Pastor Watley’s leadership, the Church has completed several business transactions, including acquiring and developing a 125,000-square-foot office tower where it leases space to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other businesses producing an alternative revenue stream to support the work of the ministry. The Church also owns a 12-acre office park in Calverton, MD, where he developed the state-of-the-art Kingdom Worship Center. Currently under construction is the Kingdom Cares Center. The top-to-bottom 100,000 square foot renovation was fully underwritten from funds Reverend Watley solicited from the Federal Government and the State of Maryland.
Pastor Watley also serves as the Chair of the Kingdom Global Development Corporation, which oversees these community outreach efforts.Additionally, Rev. Watley is Chair of The Black Idea Coalition, whose mission is to fulfill the promise of diversity and inclusion by empowering organizations and institutions to achieve Black parity in employment, investment, and contracting. The Black Idea has developed strategic partnerships with several national organizations and businesses with a specific depth of practice in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. It hosts a leadership summit where thought leaders speak about the trends and opportunities for advancing the prospects of the black business community.
A third-generation preacher, author, businessman, lecturer, and professor, Pastor Watley is nationally and globally recognized for his extensive work in ministry and his experience in leadership development. He served on a Special Commission sponsored by the Ford Foundation to evaluate Non-Governmental Organizations in the Republic of South Africa. Pastor Watley served on the General Board of the AME Church and the Board of Trustees of Howard University as a graduate student. Rev. Watley has spoken for Ch2Mhill, Prudential, Industrial Bank, The American Institute of CPAs, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, and the National Society of Black Engineers to name a few. He also has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. He has lectured at other institutions of higher learning, including Howard University, Alabama State University, Wilberforce University, Cornell University, Wesley Theological Seminary, and Wiley College.
Pastor Watley is the author of Ignite, 50 Days of Prayer that Will Change Your Life, and co-author of Poems of a Son, Prayers of a Father with the Rev. Dr. William D. Watley. His writings have also been included in James Washington’s Conversations with God; Beyond the Frontier by E. Ethelbert Miller and Mr. President – Interfaith Perspectives on the Historic Presidency of Barack H. Obama by Darryl Sims.
Rev. Watley holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Divinity from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He also served as a Graduate Assistant at the historic Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Watley earned an Executive Master’s in leadership from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business in 2009. In the summer of 2015, he received a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University. Pastor Watley was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Wiley College in 2020. Rev. Watley is presently a candidate for a Doctorate in Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.
Rev. Watley is married to the former Ms. Shawna Francis, Senior Policy Advisor in the Government Group of Holland and Knight. They are the proud parents of the beautiful and talented Miss Alexandra Elizabeth. The Watleys are committed to the arts, with Lady Shawna serving on the Board of Trustees of Arena Stage and a producer of “Colored My Mind,” which won the Independent Film Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Rev. Watley served as a script consultant for the T.V. One Movie “For the Love of Ruth,” Together, Reverend and Lady Watley were producers of the Tony-nominated Broadway play “StickFly.” In addition to being lifelong tithers, they are honored to support The National Museum of African American History and Culture as members of the 2015 Society, The King Memorial, and of course, their beloved alma mater Howard University.
Along his journey, Rev. Watley has received numerous ecclesiastical, academic, and civic awards. Concerning these and other accomplishments, he submits that the challenge of servant-leadership is not to win acclaim or to amass honor, “but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.” Micah 6:8.
Dr. Jerret Fite
Rev. Dr. Jerret Fite is a respected educator, theologian, pastor, and community leader who serves as the Division Chair of Religious and Ministry Studies at Clinton College. Having previously served as a professor of religion and chair of the faculty council, Dr. Fite is widely recognized for his commitment to academic excellence, student development, and spiritual mentorship. His outstanding contributions to the institution earned him the distinguished Faculty of the Year Award in 2021.
A native servant-leader with a passion for ministry and education, Dr. Fite accepted his call to ministry in 2002 and has devoted more than two decades to preaching, teaching, and community engagement. He currently serves as pastor of Robinson A.M.E. Zion Church, where he leads with a vision centered on faith, service, and community transformation.
Dr. Fite earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History from North Carolina Central University, graduating cum laude. While at NCCU, he received the prestigious Chancellor’s Leadership Award, recognizing his excellence in both academics and community service. He later earned a Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Hood Theological Seminary.
Beyond the classroom and pulpit, Dr. Fite is actively involved in civic and faith-based initiatives, partnering with organizations such as the NAACP, The Balm In Gilead, and Habitat for Humanity. He is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Dr. Fite is married to attorney Andrea Leslie Fite, and together they are the proud parents of three children: Jeremiah, Aaron, and Maya. Guided by his faith, family, and unwavering commitment to service, Dr. Fite lives by the motto: “Only what you do for Christ will last.”
